The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

Hello

Having an issue when connecting the 30mfd input capcitor to the filter chokes. Hums very badly. All other capcitors replaced.

Is it one that is supposed to be connected below ground on the center tap off the power transformer?

The part in question is the 30mfd 475vdc input cap to the chokes.

OK, so Dave's question is spot on: that filter does NOT go to ground, and if you put it to ground, you will get a bad hum. It connects to the center tap on the transformer HV winding, which also goes to the large resistor and the set socket and on...this is the negative bias voltage point. Make sure that circuit is running at the correct voltage and is NOT grounded.

Thanks all that was exactly the issue. I looked at the schematic so long I missed the connection. Radio plays great with all voltages where they should be
