EH Scott Radio Enthusiasts

The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

All, I've been enjoying my  electrically restored Scott 800B but I'm stuck on the last step of the restoration.  I've been using the radio with the tuner outside of the cabinet and now when I slide it into the cabinet it doesn't seem to fit right.  I'm pretty sure the mounting brackets in the radio are installed incorrectly.  For starters could someone tell me where the rollers contact the rail on the radio?  Do they fit as  shown below?  I've drawn the rollers in red.  Mine isn't installed this way so I'm just guessing.  The bracket that's mounted on the inside of my cabinet has three rollers on each side with the front two rollers being higher than the rear roller.  Is that correct?

Thanks,

Keith

Attached is an image showing how it's currently installed.  This doesn't make since to me since the lower rear roller  doesn't serve any purpose.

Hi Keith-Is this the Regent cabinet from Gregg ?

If so he acquired it from me and I too had a problem mounting a chassis in it. I suspected the rails in the cabinet are incorrect somehow. I was looking for a new set of rails but sold it off before I could find the right ones. Not sure why the rails were different. Maybe it had a 16A in it or something but  am pretty sure I saw the original chassis it came with at the home I got the cabinet from.

Bruce, yes this was your old radio that I got from Gregg.  I think the rails might  be mounted incorrectly but I need to find a photo to be sure.  How are things in Florida?

Keith

Here's the picture of the mounting bracket that's in my 800B.  Is this hardware correct?

Thanks,

Keith

There were two types of rails employed by the 800B.  They are not compatible.

Norman

Thanks Norman, Is the set that's in the photograph one of the two types?  When you say two types does that mean that the rails on my radio aren't compatible with the brackets that are in my cabinet.  Would you by chance have a photograph or drawing of what I need?  And finally, what are my chances of finding a set of compatible rails and brackets?  It seems to me that there are lots of 800B's out there without cabinets but I haven't come across any cabinets that are without the radios.  I'm guessing the brackets get tossed with the cabinets.

Thanks again,

Keith

Keith:

Yes, the rails on your radio are incompatible with the brackets on your cabinet and unfortunately the brackets get tossed with the cabinets.  I have a rail and bracket set or two in the parts stock but will have to report back when I have a chance to dig them out.

Norman

Thanks Norman, let me know if you find a set.
