EH Scott Radio Enthusiasts

The Fine Things are Always Hand Made

As most of you know, I've been gathering and analyzing Scott serial numbers for over 20 years. I have a couple requests....first, if you haven't sent me your serial numbers, please do. Also...if any of you have a confirmed date for a set/serial number, please send me that. There is a warranty tag on ebay at the moment, these are great, since they have the date and serial number on them. A letter with a date is also good confirmation. I would greatly appreciate any info you fellows can provide. I'll post more about serial numbers here in the future.

Just sitting on the curb waiting for the trash truck. It's amazing the things I find. This week alone a brand new spring horse that cost $150, dozens of blue Ball jars from 1923-1933 era and of course the ultimate find, this fabulous radio.  I can't wait to to get it in the house.

You lucked into an E H Scott Allwave High Fidelity model radio from 1935. A great find.

If complete, a 17 tube receiver and 6 tube power supply - total 23 tubes - we refer to as a Scott AW-23.

The speaker is a 12 inch pedestal and maybe the option tweeters to make it true hi-fidelity.

Condition of the chrome is an important aspect of value.

Scott offered a variety of consoles - yours is the WESTMINISTER.

Properly restored, about the best radio from 1935.

Go to the info archive at the top of this site, then choose set folders and open ALLWAVE-23 for owners manual and tech info.

Thanks David. Kent contacted me, I'm to call him later in the week. I figured the tweeter were optional as I see where they would go but I can tell they were never there. Something I would like to add to it. Chrome is in very good condition in my humble opinion. I'll take a couple pics Mon. or Tues. and post. Best Christmas present ever.

Kevin

Kevin - Do not power it up again until until basic restoration work is done.

The radio needs an antenna to receive stations. A 10 foot or so wire on the antenna post is sufficient for local stations.

Start a new thread for your radio rather than posting more on this serial number thread.

There are 20 known Allwave 27s (Baby Quaranta) found to date. Kent King is asking AW27 owners that are members here to share what cabinet your AW27 is in and if it has a record player, automatic changer or record cutter that came with it the radio. This information can be reported in this string: https://ehscott.ning.com/forum/topics/scott-allwave-27-history?comm...

Hello,

I have a new (to me) 1937 model 16.  Serial number JJ 176.  I bought it from a friend who go t it out of a collection in Sacramento, CA a few years back.  Beyond that, I know nothing about its history.  It is in an Acousticraft cabinet.

Karl

Karl -

Thanks! I had the serial number in the database, probably since it came from another collection. I'm sorry but I can't add anything much to this set, this prefix lacks any time references.

Quick update: the database now has 1990 serial numbers. When I reach 2000, I intend to write up an article for one of the club magazines and share it here. There are some new angles with the data, and I also have access to some analysis tools to see if there is anything else we can infer from the data. Keep sending me your serial numbers!! Thanks!

UPDATE: I received several photos this evening which gave me two new serial numbers. I now have 2001 sets in the database. I will be reviewing and drafting an article on Scott serial numbers in the coming weeks...thanks to everyone and keep sending them in!

Kent

Kent, when I sent the serial # for my first Allwave 23 I think I sent K480. It is actually K 486, early 5 knob chassis.
Thanks, Thom.

Kent,

I have acquired an AW15 Ser Nr R-302. It is a 55, 2A7 1st Detector/Mixer, has a two position Static Switch on the front and a variable tone control on the back. It only has one antenna post.
