Sounds like Kenny Richmond is retiring; his web site is already gone. So if you need the Scott "Aztec" cloth, he still has some up for sale on eBay. I chatted with Michael Katz regarding carrying Scott cloth, and he says probably not as it is a slow seller.

OK...I will throw this out here...I would be willing to manage getting more cloth produced, but...and here's the but: I am still working and have no time to research who can do this, costs and which producers make a decent looking example. Kenny's is ok, but of all the ones made over the years, it is probably furthest from the original appearance. Anyway...if anyone has time to do the research and get me some info/recommendations - I will certainly consider underwriting a run, even if it is a slow seller.

Are we sure Kenny is retiring?
His Aztec cloth is as far from original as you can get, but I did purchase a piece and installed it on a Phantom I was selling. I have to admit that it did look pretty darn good.

It is interesting to look at it in and out: Looking at it out of a set, it really looks wrong, but I agree, once installed, it does look better. I've put it in a couple sets I sold too but haven't used it in my own sets so far.

Kenny's cloth pattern was close, but at about 3/4 scale of the original. Greenish tint unpleasant to my eye.
The original used 3 colors of thread: gold, olive and a dusty pink. Pulled tight, the gold was prominent.
When installing, rather than trying to re-use the old wood spline, I use modern vinyl screen door spline.

I have a Delco console in my collection, that uses the same cloth. I've seen others as well, so I'm under the assumption that it is original.

Hi, just saw the message. I did a small run (30 yards) for someone, that is how I got my Scott pattern. He paid for most of it. The only issues are that sometimes the cloth isn't as sound transparent as the original, which probably can't be helped, and, on some of the console patterns, when it is on the radio and you are near it, looking down, the pattern fades into a bland color, and only up closer can you see it clearly. Otherwise, maybe have him contact me directly to discuss. Let him use my regular email... radiogrillecloth@gmail.com

Here is a swatch "history" of the Scott speaker cloth pattern used from about 1935 to 1941.
JO is the John Okolowicz version repo cloth a couple decades ago, all long ago out of stock.
The original is an old remanent so is somewhat dirty and faded.
The best was John's first attempt to my eye.

Brad - it matters how tight I stretch the cloths I have had. The first repo turns a bright gold when tightly stretched. I would think a tighter stretch would help sound transparency too.
