Hello, I have a 1938 scott radio, that I am trying to find a value on. It has one speaker at bottom, behind two doors. The left side top, pulls out, and is supposed to have a turntable in compartment. The right side top, has a door that you pull down, and push in so the radio comes out. it is an am/fm radio, with a green glass eye for tuning in stations. It has shortwave on it also. I will try to get photos of it posted, and the only number I found on it, was on the nameplate on back, and it…

Hey Norm:
Thanks for responding. I guess I'll get some Brasso and Q-Tips and shine it up. Probably see if it works. Don't have an outside antenna here, feel a little old for climbing trees but it'll be good to get my other radios a stronger signal. So do you collector guys actually listen to your radios? I had a guy tell me I could listen to all that on the Internet and I said "But what fun would that be?"
Gotta admit I like reading the old ads, and trying to…

Hi Folks: I got the tuner part of a 1940 Philharmonic in 1992. I got some paperwork too, had to make a power supply (including -150 volts) but I got it going. I am still an active SWL, haven't used the Phil since 1993, but reviewing my log I see that I DXed the AM band and logged a station almost every 10Kc. Of course that's an exaggeration but I got about half of them. With a 60 foot long wire, here in the densely populated East. I remember well my DX record, one night I tuned in…

Maybe someone has run across a similar situation as I am encountering. AM reception is nonexistant except for static. FM works fine. We have discovered what appears as phantom voltage of negative 300-400 volts at the grid of 6J5 AM oscillator. It fluctuates wildly when lead is copacativly coupled with my hand and pin 5 is moved we can hear a station but need to wiggle the lead with our hand. Sounds strange I know, but looking for ideas since all surrounding resistors and micas test…

Hi, I'm Dave and I have a 16A and a Laureate, both chassis sets. I do have all the paperwork on the 16A including shippers, but I don't know anything about the Laureate other than the fact that one technically-savvy former owner converted it to receive the new FM band.
One question: Was the Warrington cabinet some kind of standard cabinet for Scotts? In this area (southern Michigan), Warringtons seem to outnumber all the rest of the cabinet styles, at least as far as I've…

Hi ,
I picked up a Scott 800-B at an auction yesterday for $20.00 (I was the only bidder). My previous two aquisitions are the 23AW in a Tasman and 23 AW in a Stafford. I furnished photos to ask if any one sees any glaring trouble spots from previous repairs. I would also like to know if the Garrard RC-90 is original. I have found reference to two other Garrard models but not the 90. Since it is a Garrard my hunch would be that it is original. There is also a University Model N-3…

Greetings everyone.
I recently found this EH Scott website and have joined. I have an Allwave 23 with the triple speaker and the volume range expander. It is not working and and will take a considerable effort to restore since mice thought the reciever chassis was a great home and have almost destroyed 1/3 of it with their waste.
I have also just found another Allwave 23 but it did not have the power supply/amplifier. I am new to radio restoration and Scott radios in…

I am seeking advice
on what to do with a 1936 Scott radio that my father purchased in 1936. My
father kept every piece of correspondence, envelopes, manuals and diagrams, even
to the Railway Express shipping receipt. Many of the items are signed by Scott himself.
He paid $278.10 on 7-29-36. You can email me…

I know I have similar ambitions as may of us here. EH Scott radios have been an ambition since childhood and now I have my pinacle project. A 1938 Philharmonic AM pointer dial. Its a beaut. Sure it needs a little but the chassis and amp are great. It has 8 knobs plus the center pair. It didn't make it to the Deans book but they made custom radios, yes?
So I need an appropriate cabinet and speakers. I have the documentation comming already. I have been an elect. tech nearly all my life…

My Phantom has had the power transformer replaced sometime in the past. I also am not sure if the can filter capacitors are original. Does anyone out there have an original unit out, where you can easily take some closeup pictures of the top and bottom view so I can compare to what I have. Thanks for any help you can give me.
