The shortwave station WTWW runs a Christmas event each year. They ask listeners to submit a photograph of the radio you are using while listening to Christmas music on their station.

Hello I just picked up a USN receiver at NEARfest shes in tough shape I am looking for any literature on this unit

I have found on line that this type of radio was used on Aircraft carriers tankers and land stations for communications with aircraft. 115 VAC 115-156 MHz AM other than that any info will be helpful

OK. Figured it out. Thank-you whoever posted the 1 choke schematic. It's the speaker transformer not a choke. Sure is heavy. They made 'em big in those days.

I have an 800B with 800B dial and back marked serial 800 262.

The power supply has the single choke on it with a heavy 6 wire choke

mounted on the speaker and connected via the speaker connector and

harness. The radio was working fine 10 years ago when the radio was

put in storage and power supply chassis were separated and the wires

detached from the speaker and tweeter. Some of the choke wires got

detached as well. Where can I get a schematic of how to reattach…

Our local PBS outlet ran a show last night named, The Bomb, about development of atomic weaponry. At a point, approximately between 68 and 72 minutes, there is a sequence of radio receivers pictured onscreen.

One of  those  appears to be either a 16A or 800B. Anyone else here that can positively identify what model Scott it is?

This radio was my late grandfathers and was on a submarine he claimed. Not sure if it works and don't want to plug it in due to possible current sensitivity of radio. It's appears to be in great shape and knowing him, it probably works. I'm curious about the value of this unit, thanks!

I want to save the key radio components from a rather distressed Chippendale-Grand cabinet.

There just seems to be one bracket and a couple of wood screws affixing the top tuner chassis to the back of the cabinet. If I want to remove that chassis, what do I have to do to remove it? Will the front panel with the dial come out with the chassis? I don't see any attaching hardware at the front of the cabinet.

Radios are not my only hobby interest. Old cars also make me smile. For that reason my wife and I attended the Klingberg Vintage Motorcar Festival in New Britain, CT today.

Ok gang...so I have an AW 23 that I fully restored about 4-5 years ago. Played great. For lots of reasons, it hasn't been run much since then. I ran it up on the Variac this weekend, and here's what happened: AM and first SW band are dead, and the osc VR tubes don't light. On SW2 and SW3, osc VR lights up and the set plays great. Good audio on the phono input too.

So I take the tuner apart and check the osc circuit. The grid resistor is significantly off value, so I replace it. Clean…

Fellow member Dave Poland asked me a question about the service manual for the Sixteen. That query made me realize that I did not have the PDF file in the "Scott Info Archive". I have just added two Sixteen service manuals to that folder in the Archive. Both manuals appear to be missing pages 7-8....however. the full size schematic is what spans pages 7-8, so those pages aren't missing, you just need to look at the diagram for those pages.

Shielded grid wire with cloth insulation is not easy to find but is an appropriate replacement for the shielded wire with rubber insulation (now failing) employed in many Scott models.  A roll of shielded grid wire with cloth insulation is currently being offered at the link below.…

I just received an order from Antique Electronic Supply.

Just in case anyone is interested, they have some real nice 6K7G tubes in true NOS condition for only $2.38 each. These are JAN  military spec. tubes with the RCA logo on them. They look real nice and work just fine.

I also purchased a JAN 6J5WGT to replace my 6J5G which was highly microphonic. The tube I received works nicely and it is also a new condition (NOS)…

Finally put it all back in the original early 1930's Capehart 300 cabinet. Philly chrome is super nice and plays like a million bucks thanks to Bill L for his electrical restoration
